Subforum, maybe..

I know this is a hip-hop forum, but there's really no place to discuss other genres of music. I'm not asking for a rock, techno & classic forum or anything like that, but let's not forget that everything from instrumentals to lyrics have been influenced by other genres of music as well.

For instance,

The classic Run DMC & Aerosmith collabo, Numb/Encore (Jay-Z and Linkin Park), Kanye sampling Billie Holiday and other R&B oldies (as well as rock), Miri Ben-Ari (The Hip Hop Violinist), Kenna (produced by The Neptunes). Just look at what Afrika Bambaataa, one of the first rap artists to emerge, & the Zulu Nation preach. He's collaborated with a ton of artists from all over the broad spectrum of music.

. . . I'm not sure how active it would be but it could generate some activity & be of interest to those who listen to more than rap.

Just a thought.

I think it would be a nice addition for those who know what they talking about. I think a lot of the new kids on the site are 'misinformed' on real hip hop and beats. Lets see what Denz or Multi think.

How about we rename the HipHop forum to Music Forum or something, and then along with the "UK HipHop" forum we make another subforum called "Other Genres" or something. That would be alright and not take attention away from the rest of the site. I personally don't listen to anything non rap aside from Linkin Park, Gym Class Heroes (are they hiphop?), and Damian marlyey

Good idea, but the site's called Rap Worlds . . . "Other Genres" should just be a subforum so it doesn't draw away from the main music (rap/hiphop) forum that's already in place.

I don't particularly care either way though. Just thought it would be good to have some diversity on the site.

I think thats not a good idea, you might attract the wrong type of people.
IE people that listen to linkin park.

^^^^What's wrong with attracting them, they'll either leave when they realize it's a rap forum, or they'll just post in the subforum, or they might develope a liking for rap

Hmm, yah but kinda like what clusion said, we have our own thing going and we dont want it to end up like the Shady forums...
But you never know it could be a good thing.

I don't really see how a subforum for other genres would attract people who don't listen to rap. Maybe a few . . . but ultimately, this is a rap board, and that's very evidant.
